Chitra Nayak: Independent Director of Infosys

On 24 March 2021, Infosys, an IT services leader, announced the appointment of former Salesforce executive Chitra Nayak as independent director.

She will take over on 25 March 2021.

The appointment will be for a period of three years.

She was previously the Chief Operating Officer in an online SMB lending marketplace funding circle.

 

Khatabuk acquires BizAnalyst for $ 10 million

Fintech start-up Khatabuk has acquired Biz Analyst, a SaaS business management application, in a $ 10 million deal as a mix of cash and equity.

HPCL to buy Guyana’s crude lisa-mittal

HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited has purchased 1 million barrels of Lisa Light Sweet Crude from Guyana.

It is run by the state-run Hindustan Petroleum Corp and steel tycoon LN. There is a joint venture between Mittal.

The cargo of Lisa Light Sweet Crude from Guyana will arrive at Mundra port around 8 April 2021.

HPCL-Mittal Energy is the first Indian company to purchase a crude Lisa from Guyana.

 

NITI Commission will appoint Transaction Advisor

The NITI Commission has decided to list the transaction advisor for monetization of assets and to further the process of disinvestment of public sector enterprises.

The proposed monetization aims to raise long-term private investment to operate and earn revenue from such core assets.

The government has kept a budget of Rs 1.75 lakh crore from stake sale in PSUs and financial institutions.

Maharashtra: First to administer 5 million doses

The Parliament has agreed the National Allied for Allied and Healthcare Professions Bill, 2021.

The Bill describes an ‘allied healthiness professional’ as a subordinate trained to assist in the treatment of any disease or injury.

 

Parliament passed NCT of Delhi Bill, 2021

The Parliament has accepted the National Capital Territory of Delhi Government (Amendment) Bill, 2021 with the endorsement of the Rajya Sabha.

This bill amending the National Capital Territory of Delhi Government Act, 1991 has already been passed in the Lok Sabha.

Therefore, the term ‘Government’ mentioned to in any law made by the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Delhi shall mean the Lieutenant Governor.

 

Justice Raman will be the next CJI

Chief Justice of India S.A. Bobde succeeded Justice N.V. as his successor. Raman’s name is recommended.

Justice Raman is to be appointed as the 48th CJI.

Chief Justice Bobde is due to retire on 23 April 21.

Justice Bobde was on oath in as the 47th CJI in November 2019.

After the sanction, Justice Raman is expected to take over as the next CJI on 24 April and retire on 26 August 2022.
