UIPath acquires Cloud Elements

Enterprise automation software company Uipath has acquired an application programming interface (API) integration platform, Cloud Elements, to expand its API-based automation capabilities.

The market for UIPath is classified into five geographical regions, including the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Japan, Asia Pacific and India.

UIPath is in “hyper-growth” mode in India.


India: second most attractive market

India ranked second among the large emerging markets in February 2021.

For the second consecutive month, India has managed to stay on top.

India was the only country to report positive GDP growth figures in the December 2020 quarter, excluding China and Turkey.

The Philippines (-8.3%) performed the worst.


ICICI Bank launches instant EMI facility

ICICI Bank has publicized the overview of instant EMI (Equated Monthly Instalments) facility on its Internet banking platform.

It is the first bank in the industry to do so.

This facility, called ‘EMI @ Internet Banking’, aims to provide increased power to pre-approved customers, allowing them to convert high value transactions of up to Rs 5 lakh into easy monthly installments.


Rockstead Capital invested in Android

Artificial Intelligence (AI) -based content intelligence platform, Instoroid, has raised an undisclosed amount from Rockstead Capital.

Instagram helps enterprises and individuals create emotionally engaging content that leads to a good return on investment.

The funds will be used for their existing tools to reach new geographic areas and recently launched new tools for individuals.


TCS Connected Consumer Home Solution Launched

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Limited has launched TCS Connected Consumer Home Solution based on the open-source software platform RDK.

It is launched to help media and communications service providers offer seamless and seamless consumer experiences.

Communications and media contribute about 7% to the total revenue of the vertical company and grew by 5.5% during the December 2020 quarter.


CBSE Evaluation Framework Released

Union Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on 24 March 2021 launched the evaluation framework of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for science, mathematics and English.

The framework is part of the ‘Competency-Based Education Project’ of the CBSE and the British Council.

CBSE board 10th class examinations will end on 7 June 2021 while class 12th exams will end on 11 June.


ChrysCapital invests $ 50 mn in Safex Chemicals

Private equity firm Chryscapital is investing $ 50 million in Safex Chemicals India Ltd., an agrochemical company, for a significant minority stake.

The transaction includes a combination of secondary sales by existing PE investor, Benyon Tree Growth Capital, as well as primary growth by the company, as part of the development initiative.

Established in 1991, SafeX manufactures and sells branded agrochemicals.


Fitch Ratings Revised India’s Growth Estimate

Fitch Ratings has revised India’s GDP growth estimate for the next financial year to 12.8% from the previous 11%.

In its latest Global Economic Outlook GEO, the agency estimates the country’s GDP levels to be below pre-epidemic forecasts.

Fitch also forecasts GDP growth to reach 5.8% in FY 2023.


Meghalaya government lowers COVID test rate

In Meghalaya, the cost of COVID-19 testing has been made cheaper with effect from 23 March 2021 following a decision of the state government to reduce various testing rates.

The government has reduced the rate of COVID testing by 50 percent for RT- PCR / TruNat / CBNAAT.

The rate for rapid antigen test has been reduced from Rs 500 to Rs 250.


Andaman and Nicobar achieve 100% FHTC

Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lieutenant Governor Admiral DK Joshi announced that the Union Territory has achieved 100 percent functional domestic tap connection (FHTC) coverage.

With this, Andaman and Nicobar Islands have become the third State / Union Territory of the country to achieve the target after the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa and Telangana under the Water Life Mission.

Connections were provided in 266 villages located in 9 blocks.


Dr. Vivek Murthy will become Surgeon General of Biden

The US Senate has voted to confirm the appointment of Indian-American Dr. Vivek Murthy as Surgeon General of President Biden.

Dr. Murthy served as Surgeon General under the Obama administration from 2014 to 2017.

He is a eminent doctor and former Vice Admiral in the Public Health Service Commission Corps.


Birth anniversary of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia

On March 23, the birth anniversary of freedom fighter and socialist leader Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia is celebrated.

Lohia was born on 23 March 1910.

He was an activist and a socialist political leader in the Indian independence movement.

During the last phase of British rule in India, he worked with Congress Radio which till 1942 was broadcast in secret from various locations in Bombay.


Lok Sabha passed Finance Bill 2021

On 23 March 2021, the Lok Sabha passed the Finance Bill 2021.

This gives effect to the financial proposals of the Central Government for the year 2021-22.

Referring to the current taxes levied on petrol and diesel, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed that the Center is sharing 41% of the non-taxable tax with the states.


Birth Anniversary of Muthuswamy Dixitar

March 24 marks the birth anniversary of legendary Carnatic musician Muthuswamy Dixitar.

Dixitar was a great composer of Indian classical Carnatic music.

Dixitar, Shyama Shastri and Tyagi were called the musical trinity of Carnatic music.

His compositions are mostly in Sanskrit.

He also composed some of his works in Manipravalam (which is a combination of Sanskrit and Tamil languages).


Conference of commanders of Assam Rifles

The two-day annual Assam Rifles Commanders’ Conference commenced on 23 March 2021.

Its purpose was to find solutions to the challenges faced in maintaining the internal peace and security of the North Eastern states, as well as to discuss issues related to security along the Indo-Myanmar border.

The event is being organized to commemorate the 186th Foundation Day of the Assam Rifles.

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, a central public undertaking, has set up an e-tendering portal – PRANIT.

This portal will reduce paperwork, ease of operation and make the tendering process more transparent.
